Paoay Sand Dunes
Paoay Sand Dunes, Barangay Suba, Paoay, Ilocos Norte (near Malacanang of the North) is like to any sand dunes of the world, are not static forms; they change in shape, sizes and location, depending on the strength and direction of the prevailing wind.
Protected from easterly winds by the part of the Cordillera range, only strong winds from the West Philippine Sea can make them moves and change forms. Thus, these sand dunes can only migrate to the east towards the land.
Paoay Sand Dunes is the product of wave action during high tides cause’s sand and silt deposited offshore to form sand bars. During low tides, sand bars close to the beach are dried by the wind and sun, which are transported by strong winds blowing toward the land, to finally build up… SAND DUNES.
The most popular sports/adventures in Ilocos Norte that has attracted so many Filipinos from different ages. Not only for sports adventure but also the location for films makers.
